Learn an Easy Version of Stairway to Heaven on Guitar

by David Osborn, M.S.

Playing Level: Beginner

The Intro to Stairway to Heaven is perhaps the most iconic guitar riff of all time... and the most overplayed--but with good reason! With its descending bass figure and beautiful melody this riff leaves its listener spellbound.

Ironically, this riff is notoriously difficult to play. There are a number of challenging barre chords and awkward transitions throughout the riff.

No worries though! We've worked out a much simpler version of this iconic riff that still holds true to the original. In short, it sounds amazing while being relatively simple to play.

In the above video, I'm going to show you how you can finally get this riff under your fingers. We'll start by looking at the overall structure of the riff and proceed to cover the fingering and playing strategies that you need to know in order to get it down quickly.

Get ready--this is a fun one!
